What it is
Dark Matter is the grip we tooled first and the one most of our sponsored players still use. The open-cell wall structure is 2.4 mm deep, so sweat drains into the cells instead of pooling between your palm and the shell. It is the most aggressive surface in the range.

Fitting
- Wipe the handles clean and let them dry — skin oil is why grips work loose.
- Hook the lower lip over the base of the handle first.
- Roll the shell upward with your thumbs, keeping the edge seated.
- Check the USB-C port, both triggers and the headphone jack are clear.
Compatibility
Moulded per controller, not a universal sleeve. Choosing the wrong mould means it will not seat — our 60-day return window covers that mistake.

Solved the sweat problem, not just the grip problem
I have used four different grips on my DualSense and they all did the same thing — fine for an hour, then my palms sweat and the whole thing turns into a bar of soap. The open cells actually give the moisture somewhere to go. Four hours of Tarkov and my hands were still dry. The cell walls are sharper than I expected out of the box; they soften after a week.

Excellent grip, slightly bulky for small hands
Grip and build quality are genuinely great and the lime is much richer in person than on screen. Only reason this is a 4 and not a 5: I have small hands and +2.4 mm on each handle is noticeable. I got used to it after about a week but if you are borderline, look at Vapor instead. Support answered my sizing question in a few hours before I ordered, which I appreciated.

Left grip worked loose after about three weeks
Right side is still perfect. The left one started lifting at the top edge near the trigger and would rotate slightly if I pulled on it. For €40 I expected both to hold. Two stars for now, will update if the replacement holds up.

12 May 2026That is a moulding fault on the left shell, not something you did — a small number of DualSense left grips from our March batch (SKU prefix APX-MAGMA-DUALSENSE) shrank slightly at the trigger edge. We have replaced that batch. A new pair is on the way to you and you do not need to return the old one. If anyone else sees lifting at the top edge, email support with your order number and we will ship a replacement same day.

Good grip, but the texture loads up fast
No complaints about the fit or the grip itself. But the deep cells collect skin oil quickly and after about two weeks the surface goes noticeably slicker. It cleans up fine with soap and a brush, it just needs doing more often than I expected. Worth knowing before you buy.

19 Apr 2026This is accurate and we should say it more clearly on the product page — a deeper cell holds more grip and also more oil. Every two to three weeks is the right interval for a heavy user. Warm water, washing-up liquid and any stiff brush is genuinely all it needs; our Care Kit is a convenience, not a requirement.

How much bigger will my controller feel?
+2.4 mm per handle on each handle, and 18 g per pair in total. If you have small hands or thousands of hours of muscle memory on a bare controller, start with Matte Essential at +0.9 mm.
Will it come off and leave marks on my controller?
No. There is no adhesive anywhere in the product — it is a friction fit, held by the shape of the mould. You can remove and refit it as often as you like. If a grip does work loose, it is almost always skin oil on the controller rather than a fault: clean both surfaces with warm water and washing-up liquid, dry completely, and refit.
Does it block the USB-C port, triggers or the headphone jack?
No. Each shell is cut around the port, the triggers, the headphone jack and — on the DualSense Edge and Elite Series 2 — the rear module, so you can still swap stick modules and paddles with the grips fitted.
Can I put it in the dishwasher?
The UV-coated TPU shells are dishwasher safe on a normal cycle, top rack. Silicone thumb grips and rings are as well. Warm water and washing-up liquid with a brush is faster and does the same job.
The cells feel sharp — is that normal?
Yes, for about a week. Freshly moulded cell walls have a crisp edge that rounds off with use. If it is still uncomfortable after a fortnight, the texture is genuinely too aggressive for you — Vector's micro-hex is the one to switch to, and our 60-day window covers the swap.
