How to choose a controller grip
Two questions, and one of them is just which controller you own.
This guide used to run to four questions about sweat, session length and joint pain, and answered each with a different surface. We make one surface, so most of that was a decision tree with one destination. Here is the honest version.
1. Which controller do you own?
This is the only question that can be answered wrong. Each shell is moulded to one controller and they are not interchangeable — a DualSense shell will not seat on a DualSense Edge, and an Xbox Wireless shell will not seat on an Elite Series 2.
If you are not sure which revision you have, the compatibility checker identifies it from the bottom edge of the controller in two questions.
2. Which one do you want to look at?
There is one mould and one surface, so all six colourways grip identically. Nothing about Venom is grippier than Glacier; they are the same shell in a different colour.
Glacier is the quietest and changes the look of the controller least. Venom is the loudest and holds up best under a streaming light. The other four sit between them.
What we cannot tell you yet
How much thickness the shell adds, what it weighs and how hard the compound is. The first production run is still being moulded and none of it has been measured. Those numbers go on the product pages the day we have them, and not before.
